Craigie Aitchison RA

Born: 1926

Craigie Aitchison was born in Edinburgh and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, London, where he received a British Council Italian Government scholarship in 1955. He was elected Royal Academician in 1988 and was made CBE in 1999.

Among the many awards that he has received are more recently the Jerwood Foundation Award (1994) and the Norsdstern Art Prize (2000).

Best known for his paintings, but diversifies into printing in conjunction with Advanced Graphics of London producing the most wonderful screen prints in his most recognisable style.

He now lives and works in London.
