Mary Mabbutt




Mary Mabbutt is a practising painter who studied at Loughborough College of Art and the Royal Academy Schools, and who contributes her extensive knowledge of colour to BA(Hons) Textile Design. She was a tutor in the Fine Art Department, Falmouth from 1979 until 2011 and also taught at a number of Fine Art Departments in England and Wales including Fine Art Departments at St.Martins School of Art, Cardiff, Cheltenham, Portsmouth, Exeter and Bristol.

Mary has had numerous one-person exhibitions in London at the Paton Gallery, New Grafton Gallery and Russell Gallery, and has also shown widely in mixed and group shows throughout her career

In 1995, she was a prize winner at the John Moores' Liverpool 19 exhibition and in 2003 was awarded a South West Arts Major Award followed by a one person exhibition at the Newlyn Gallery, Cornwall. In 2006 she was included in the Artist of the Day series at Flowers Central, Cork Street, London

Her work is held in numerous private and public collections including the Arts Council of Great Britain, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Robert and Susan Summer, New York, Unilever, Coopers and Lybrand, Slaughter and May.
