Karen's work consists of vibrantly coloured, three-plate etchings
and painterly monotypes, which take the landscape for inspiration. Three-plate
prints take a lot of foresight but allow a greater variety of colour
combinations which are, for Karen, the most thrilling element of the
printmaking process.
"It
has remained my passion from my early days of making a print. Sometimes I use
colour independently of the subject, generating light and space by colour
alone."
Karen studied
Art at Roehampton University in London before specialising in
printing at Putney School of Art and Morley College in Lambeth.
She has been a member of the Royal Society of Printmakers since 2008.
