Lynn Bailey

Lynn's original training in the 1980s was in the conservation of prints and drawings, which gave her a solid foundation in the traditional techniques of the ‘old masters’ and an appreciation of quality materials.

This was also the time that she experienced her first printmaking. After a short time working at the British museum, followed by several years working in animation, she found herself needing to explore her own creativity and looking for an outlet for artistic expression.

Returning to college to study for a BA in Fine art (1993-96) she found herself gravitating towards printmaking. On graduating, she set up and established Double Elephant Print Workshop (1997) with Simon Ripley.

Though her work she strives to express something about the physicality of a landscape and use it as metaphor for the vitality of change and renewal as well as a comment on how we interact with the land. She frequently works in series. The resulting images emerge from experimenting with different ways of combining contradictory elements.

She has been a Devon Guild of Craftsmen member since 2006 and also undertakes editioning work  for other artists.
